CROP PROTECTION
|
The
control of insect pests, without the use of pesticides, by the
introduction of natural predators into the crop, is a well established
practice.
The technique is widely used on protected salad, ornamental
and soft fruit crops and has led to a major reduction in pesticide
use
and residues.
Agralan now distribute the Biobest range of beneficial insects in
the
UK and Ireland. Biobest are based in Belgium and operate world-wide.
They are one of the leading producers of beneficial insects with
an
excellent reputation for quality and reliability.
Predators exist for the control of the most commonly occurring pests
on crops under glass or polythene, and certain pest problems on
outdoor crops.
Please enquire for a separate catalogue, detailing the range
available. See also the Biobest website, www.biobest.be

WASP TRAP
Wasps are commonly a problem around bee hives, farm shops and
eating areas. By hanging the wasp trap a few metres from the problem
area, wasps are drawn away and caught in the trap.
The trap uses a non-toxic attractant.

LACEWING CHAMBER
Lacewing larvae are voracious predators of aphids while the adults
feed on nectar and pollen.
Lacewing overwinter as adults, but populations decline dramatically
if no suitable habitat for hibernation is available.
The Agralan Lacewing Chamber comes complete with straw and attractant.
The chamber should be in place by the end of August.
