Agralan Super Fine Rock Dust for Box Tree Moth Treatment
Agralan Super Fine Rock Dust is an effective natural treatment for box tree moth (Cydalima perspectalis) caterpillars.
How It Works: Rock dust controls box tree caterpillars through physical action - the microscopic particles damage the insects' protective exoskeleton and cause dehydration. The super fine particle size of Agralan Superfine rock dust makes it particularly effective at penetrating the plant foliage and reaching caterpillars hiding within the bush structure.
Application Method: Shake the dust all over the plant either by hand orby using a dusting sprayer (Birchmeier Bobby Duster) making sure the leaves are covered (on all sides and within the plants). The super fine texture of Agralan rock dust allows for excellent coverage and adherence to leaf surfaces. With careful shaking of the bush, the dust also reaches its inner parts. Some also use fine sieves or stuffed stockings (It is best to wear a dust mask to avoid inhalation when applying to the plant)
Treatment Schedule:
- Apply immediately when caterpillars are first discovered
- Then twice a year in April and July for preventive protection
- It is essential to kill as many of the caterpillars as possible before the temperatures drop in the autumn since they overwinter as caterpillars

- Apply a few handfuls per sqm.
- 1kg treats approx 2 sqm of box plants / hedges
